[Oz-gifted] Wanted: homeschoolers who have entered uni/TAFE

Hi all,

I have been asked to write an article for Education Choices Magazine on TAFE
and uni entrance for homeschool students. For gifted children, the issue is
more often age than previous method of education that causes difficulty with
the enrolment procedures (as many of the alternate entry criteria are only
open to those over 21yrs). However part of the article will be a list of
institutions which have accepted home educated students and I know that even
some of us with children aged under 18 have (ultimately) succeeded in
enrolling our children in tertiary institutions.

To that end, I'm seeking up to date information from those who have children
or know students (or are students) at uni or TAFE who were previously (or
concurrently) home educated. Helpful information is the name and course of
the institution, the contact people involved in the enrolment, the criteria
or process applied to the application, reasons for choosing that course &
institution etc. Some personal perspective on how the students have found
the uni/TAFE study would also be appreciated. I'm also interested in what,
if anything homeschoolers want tertiary institutions to provide for them
(information, services) beyond what is currently available.

I've set up an email address specifically for this article as I've been
asked to contact all Aust and NZ universities with regard to the article
williams.rosie at gmail.com (but if you have one of my other email addresses I
should still get it).

Because of the number of profoundly gifted students entering university
under the age of 18 this article will also be useful for the gifted
education community. I've added to the blog on this too:

Happy New Year,
