Language, especially with technology subjects, can be tricky. The terms
used can change from school to school and teacher to teacher.
Having said that, as with most tests, it's important to make the test
sufficiently difficult so that few get a perfect score. But there will indeed
be Year 3 students who would have been able to breeze through this
competition. Not many, but a few. The test would be meaningless if
most kids aced it. You just never know, your daughter may well have
done better than most. Sometimes these competitions can surprise
like that. So take heart, I'm sure they made it deliberately difficult.
FWIW, I'm not sure which computer competition your daughter tried
but my son used to do similar ones and always found them challenging.
He's now at university doing engineering and computer science.
Chalk it up to experience and wait for the results. She may have
done much better than she imagines.
