Wow. gee. YES!!!!!!
It is one of the most basic skills in our world and one of the most
useful thing they can---need to---learn. It is also a great tool if you
get over the fear of it and the resistance to learning new things.
I assume you are being sarcastic about the *copious free time*. The rest
of us have to use scarce free time to educate ourselves. I was making
just this point to my son yesterday. He has a load of free time to study
right now and later will have a full time job and have to scratch what
time he can to learn beyond that.
MY dh is away from him between 5:30 am and 7 pm and has to work some
nights and then study on top of that.
It really has to be a priority for a teacher who wants to keep with it.
Quite honestly I don't want to learn as much about computers as I need
to. It takes far more time than I want to devote to it and it is hard to
get my head around some of it but, it is one of those things that is not
optional for me as a teacher.
