Sounds like he could have a visual processing problem.  He may need 
behavioural optometry. The picture is possibly a combination of things. 
sensory integration? Visual processing? auditory processing?

Can also be a response to diet.

The stubborness amy be a result of feeling unable to process and *get 
it* and feeling like a failure, different etc. It can also be diet 
related.

The programme grow through play is good but pricey.  ---monitored by a 
behavioural optometrist.
