Hi Ellen, I've just jumped online for first time in ages. At the
recommendation of his prep teacher, our son was accelerated to grade 1
after a couple of weeks in prep last year and we haven't looked back!
He had just turned 6. As we were apprehensive about the
social/emotional aspects of such a move we consulted an educational
psychologist and our son completed the WISC III with impressive results!
Testing, for us, proved incredibly helpful. As parents, we were
(embarrassingly)unaware our son was gifted. It also appears 'the powers
that be' at school tend to take notice of validating test results and
recommendations prescribed by psychologists whereas a parent's opinion
is of little value on its own within the system!!

Why not just go and see Fiona Smith who use to work with GERRIC. She is
based in Sydney and works with Gifted kids all the time and would be
able to suggest which is the right test for you to use.
