I was browsing the library this week and came across a book that I
thought would be good for budding young mathmaticians---and those of us
with less math gifting.

Coincidences, Chaos, and All That Math Jazz: Making Light of Weighty
Ideas

http://www.amazon.com/Coincidences-Chaos-That-Math-Jazz/dp/0393059456

Another one my son loved at about 6yo ( and he still does love it)

The Number Devil: A Mathematical Adventure
http://www.amazon.com/Number-Devil-Mathematical-
Adventure/dp/0805062998/sr=1-1/qid=1166311114/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-2485340-0264047?
ie=UTF8&s=books

another one that i have heard is good is ( and any others by this author)

The Adventures of Penrose the Mathematical Cat
http://www.amazon.com/Adventures-Penrose-Mathematical-
Cat/dp/1884550142/sr=1-2/qid=1166311114/ref=pd_bbs_2/002-2485340-0264047?ie=
UTF8&s=books

These are just math ones but do any of you have books you would
recommend as (Christmas) gifts or library borrowings. I particularly
would love to hear about books that are enjoyable for both parent and
child. Any topic.

Louise
