we had our son *tested* at just over 5years.... and
the reasons why we chose the G&T specialised Psych was
because DS was very good at *fooling* people... as
well as reading questions *deeper* then the answer
allowed for.... the offer we had from the school to
test him was with the school councellor ( who
WASNT/ISNT a trained psych... only trained psychs are
qualified to give the IQ tests.....)

also the school had their own agenda with our son...
namely to *prove* that he wasnt smart at all.... and i
was very hesitant about letting them label him
incorrectly.....especially with the attitude of the
school before i even suggested we find out what he
actually could do...

im glad we did go with the G&T specialist as DS
pretended the entire time that he didnt know the
answers and deliberately misanswered.... until the
psych told him that she could see that he DID know the
answers and asked him to treat her with respect and
not act *dumb*..... i dont think anyone not used to
G&T children would have realised he was playing
her....

good luck with whatever you chose ( btw... we didnt
tell the school for 2 years that we had had him tested
and never gave them the results because of their
attitude about gifted kids... and we had realised that
it wouldnt have helped our son )
