Yes, L is reading Garfield at home!  How did you guess? ;-)

It's really activities that I'm after, to help the teacher.  The 
teacher is providing books at or near L's level (No problems with 
readers here!  She kept a very close eye indeed on the levels each 
child needed last year, and this year L and another boy have their 
very own book-box); I'm thinking more about ways for her to deepen 
the curriculum for him, given that his general knowledge and 
inferential ability lag behind his language skills.
