Colin, As he will be in the northern hemisphere, there are the stars and the coriolis effect - easy enough to look at a plug hole;

	Hi Colin,
	faced with a similar problem this term, I have arranged for a student to undertake an independent science investigation utilising the CREST (Creativity in Science and Technology) award system http://www.csiro.au/crest/ . I maintain a mentor relationship via email, but the student will be able to carry out their investigations while away and the award provides some structure and focus to their studies.

		Greetings all,

		I have a Year 9 student who will be away for the whole of Term 2 ( Victoria)
		During that time he will be with family in Europe.

		Any suggestions as to what sorts of Science tasks/observations/assignments
		that would not intrude into the Holiday mode but still stretch the mind? I'm
		hoping to come up with some activities that perhaps will show the
		universality (?!) of science.

		The scheduled topics ( for those not ducking across to Europe ) will be :

		CHEMISTRY:

		PHYSICS: LIGHT
		PHSYICS: Electric Circuits

		ATOMS & ENERGY:

		BIOLOGY/PSYCHOLOGY:

		Thanks in Anticipation.
