Hey Greg, that sounds great. Where would I find a template for a 10 sided dice?
thanks

I remember making a couple of 10 sided dice (decahedron, I think) and put the numbers from 1 to 10 on each.
We played tables races with the two dice determining the table to be worked out. Each line had one of the dice and they rolled them at the same time and what ever they came up on was the table. We had draws and modified the rules as we went depending on who was up. It might not be "politically correct" any more though.
The kids loved it!
Cheers
Greg

This was a favourite of the Year 4 classes I had a few years ago.
Get 2 large dice shaped objects (eg, MAB 1000), write the directions (N, E, W, S) and Left and Right on one, and numbers on the other.
Split the class into 2 teams, each team sends up one person at a time to stand at the back of the room. Roll the dice for 1st player - they have to go that direction, that number of steps. Do the same for the 2nd player. First to the blackboard wins a point for their team.
Keep going until everyone has had a go, or until the bell goes.
Great for directions, for upper primary you could probably use degrees instead.
Got some great oral language out of it too - reasoning, explaining to team mate why they shouldn't be taking BIG steps when they are moving away from the goal.
