I'll reply to the list in case anyone else wishes to self-publish a
small quantity of books/CDs etc with little chance of obscene profits
(we still have more copies of Tracey's book available for those who
have already worn the print off the pages through constant re-reading
or missed my original promotion last year).

Tracey filled in a form for suppliers from the Australian Tax Office
to basically declare that the publication was a hobby rather than a
fully fledged business venture. This left her free of ABN & GST
obligations.
The Business Tax Infoline number is 1328 66 and they will be able to
give more specific information regarding your circumstances.
