This is a repeat of a message sent out a month ago about the below resources. If you are covering this topic, you would ask your students to start recording the appearance of the Moon from THIS Wednesday night.

Download the below resources via the front page of my site.

August 2007 'The Sky Tonight' sheet (57 kb)
-----------------------------------------------------

Watch the Moon pass Jupiter during National Science Week. Also includes information on August's Total Lunar Eclipse (Tuesday 28 August).

August 2007 Moon Madness Charts
----------------------------------------------------

These charts (in two complementary formats) which school students (and anyone else) can use to record the changing appearance of the Earths Moon. No equipment beside a pencil and photocopy of the chart/s are required. An answer version (with filled circles) is provided for both charts in case of cloudy skies.
As an aside, referring to the charts as 'Moon Madness' charts, is a play on the 'huh?' reaction I have noticed when I have pointed out the real motion of the Moon (over a number of days) as opposed to the apparent path it takes if you only watch it over the duration of one night.

Regards,

Paul Floyd.
