[Oz-teachers] Border help

Can anyone help?  For some reason in both word and publisher when I try to
put a border on my tables it is not working.  I have selected the whole
table and then gone to format menu, clicked table, clicked colours and lines
 selected width, colour and ok but nothing is happening.  It's the same
thing in word.  I have noticed when I select the colour it doesn't matter
what colour I select it is not showing up in the preview box as it should. 
Can anyone help with some suggestions of things I may or may not have turned
on/off previously that would be hindering the borders from showing.
