For some time now we have been operating on 7 periods at our school, as the
schools in our area all do so to be the same. This allows for
video-conferencing (which we haven't used in 2 years).
Anyway, at our school we have been looking to change, but each year it gets
knocked on the head.
I am just wondering if there are other schools our there that have 7 periods
(43min each ?!).
Personally I cannot stand it. Never in the one place long enough, always
moving, nothing done in spares, let alone the thoughts of kids going to 7
different classes in a day and expecting to take all things in?
It seems to go against all the literature and I have done many school
visits, where large blocks of time are utilised, and that certainly looks
ideal.
(NB: we are a P-12 school, so any timetabling is hard).
So anyone else have 7x43min periods (or somesuch) per week and thoughts?
