Some great ideas so far. Loved the technology challenges.

Did you see my list of ICT related Christmas activities?

If not, here they are again:

USE A PAINT PROGRAM TO

1. Illustrate a Christmas story

2. For example, read the story of the nativity at
http://www.topmarks.co.uk/christianity/nativity/index.htm

3. Students illustrate a scene using paint (or www.sumopaint.com for
upper primary )

4. These could be printed and / or combined into a Photostory with
student narration.

DESIGN CHRISTMAS CARDS

Use www.sumopaint.com to design Christmas cards.

Make a word mosaic at Image Chef <http://www.imagechef.com/ic/word_mosaic/>
, print and glue onto Christmas cards. Type Christmas in the search bar for
Christmas shapes. Can be saved into my pictures.

SEND A CHRISTMAS POSTCARD

Go to http://postcards.primarygames.com/christmas.htm, where students can
select a design, add text and music, email to a recipient.

BLOGS/WIKIS

Set up a class blog (www.blogger.com ) or wiki (www.pbworks.com ) to discuss
a Christmas topic of your class's choice. E.g. Family Christmas traditions,
Christmas around the world.

DIGITAL PHOTOS

Take your own photos, ask students to bring some from home, or find pictures
from the web (referencing of course!) and:

. Make a Photostory

. Choose an activity on www.bighugelabs.com such as 'mosaic
maker',' jigsaw', 'magazine cover', 'cube' maker, and my personal fave
'motivator' (as demonstrated to the right).

WORDLE

< Use www.wordle.net to create Christmas word clouds. Could be turned into
Christmas cards or simply displayed around classroom.

< Students could find information on a topic from a website, an online
encyclopaedia, a story, their own brainstorm etc. Ideas are endless!

Subject: [Oz-teachers] Activities Week ideas

As part of our final week of school we are supposed to offer two 90 minute-2
hour activities for the students, only the year 6,7,8 and 9's. Staff offer
sessions on things like card making, board game playing and other
Christmassy craft. My problem is I'm really not a crafty person and I have
no idea what to do. I was thinking of something IT related but it can't be
games or use programs not on our school network or DECS blocked.(which cuts
out a lot of things)

If anyone has any ideas they would be willing to share I could really use
some suggestions, does not have to be IT related just something an
uncoordinated teacher can do that students would actually enjoy doing.

thanks in advance
