[Oz-teachers] hashtags in twitter

Hello
I am new to twitter and trying to work out the use of hashtags.
I have read up on hashtags but seem to be missing something.
# groups tweets around a specific term. I have read I can follow on RSS feed.
How do I follow in twitter?
Is it simply a matter of searching for that # term? Or can I follow that term so all tweets which include it show up in my twitter page?
Help, please, I have spent too much time trying to work this out. }-l
